Online card games for seniors
By The Play Card Games Online team · Updated
A familiar game like cribbage is easy to start online. The hard part is often the screen: small cards, small text, suits that look alike. Here is what to look for, and how the free cribbage sites compare.
What makes an online card game easy to play
- Text you can make bigger, and cards that grow with it, without the page scrolling sideways.
- Suits you can’t mix up. A four-colour deck makes diamonds blue and clubs green.
- High contrast, for dark text on a light page.
- No timers, so you can think about a play as long as you like.
- Big buttons with words on them, not just small icons.
- Nothing to sign up for, so a grandchild doesn’t have to set it up.

Where we fall short
We only have cribbage today; euchre, crazy eights, hearts and spades are coming. We don’t have online play yet. Today you can play the computer or a friend on the same device; playing people online, friend rooms and ratings come with accounts, and until then the sites that have them are the better pick for that.
Who should pick another site
- You want to play family in another town online today: cardgames.io (private table by link) or Cribbage JD (invite code).
- You want many games in one place: cardgames.io.
- You want an app that works without the internet: Cribbage JD.
