Where we win
- Reading the cards. Four text sizes, and the cards scale with them, capped to the screen so nothing scrolls sideways on a phone. A four-colour deck keeps diamonds and hearts apart. We found no text-size setting on cardgames.io.
- Choosing your opponent. Four computer levels, from Beginner (plenty of mistakes) to Expert (picks its throw by the average value of every possible discard). We found no difficulty setting on cardgames.io’s cribbage page.
- Learning. A hint button, and after every hand a review of your throw to the crib: what it was worth on average, and the best throw if yours wasn’t it. Every pegging point and hand is counted out point by point.
- One device, two players. Pass a phone or tablet back and forth; a cover screen hides your hand between turns.
